Hi, I'm Alexia.
I'm a 19-year-old university student, and I created BamNet while learning how to build websites.
About me and BamNet
I started working on BamNet during the Giiyo Tech Web Development Week. I chose internet access, electricity and mobile network problems in Bamenda because these challenges can make it harder for students to study, for businesses to work, and for people to stay in touch.
I want BamNet to organise useful information and resources about connectivity and electricity challenges in Bamenda. I hope it can help people find practical information and relevant service links in one place.
While building this project, I learned how to use HTML and CSS to put a website together. I practised working with images, navigation, cards and responsive design, and I also learned about Git, GitHub and publishing a website.
When the crisis disrupted my education, I used the time during lockdown in Douala to begin studying web development. I hope my story inspires other young girls in crisis-affected areas such as Bamenda to explore web development and other technology skills.
- Building page structure and styling with HTML and CSS
- Adding images, navigation links and information cards
- Making a page responsive for different screen sizes
- Using Git and GitHub and publishing a website
BamNet is a work in progress. I intend to keep improving it as I learn more and grow my web development skills.
